Together We Grow: Our Group Therapy Assessment & Treatment Plan

At Pair It With Speech Services, we believe growth can be even more powerful when it’s shared. Our group therapy sessions create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where children and adults build communication, confidence, and life skills—together.

How We Assess for Group Therapy

Each participant begins with an individual intake session, either in-person or virtual, to understand their background, challenges, goals, and readiness for group dynamics.

We conduct brief assessments to evaluate speech, language, motor skills, or social functioning—depending on the type of group therapy being offered (e.g. social communication, articulation, sensory regulation, or life skills).

Based on assessment results, age, skill level, and therapeutic needs, participants are thoughtfully grouped to ensure the best fit and a positive peer experience. We match individuals with peers who share similar goals and communication styles.

We set both group-wide objectives and individualized goals for each participant. These are shared with clients (or parents/caregivers), so everyone understands the focus of the sessions.

How Group Therapy Works

Group sessions are led by a licensed therapist and follow a consistent structure. Each session includes warm-ups, skill-building activities, peer interaction, and real-time feedback.

Depending on the focus of the group, sessions may target:

  • Turn-taking, listening, and conversation skills
  • Emotional regulation and coping strategies
  • Executive functioning and task planning
  • Teamwork and collaborative play
  • Articulation, fluency, or language practice in group settings

We use role-play, games, movement-based tasks, group discussions, crafts, and real-life scenarios to help participants learn and apply new skills in a natural, motivating way.

Group therapy helps clients feel less alone in their challenges and more confident in social settings. It’s a chance to connect, practice, and grow together.

Each participant receives ongoing feedback and mini check-ins to track individual progress. Families are kept informed with updates and suggestions for home carryover.

Why Group Therapy Works:

When we learn with others, we learn from others. Group therapy offers a unique opportunity to build skills in a social setting while receiving expert support. It’s ideal for individuals who benefit from peer interaction, shared experiences, and collaborative learning.
